The National Housing Trust’s (NHT) Construction Scholarship offers a unique opportunity for up to ten talented Jamaican students pursuing degrees in fields such as Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Architecture, Urban Planning, and related disciplines. Selected scholars should demonstrate financial need, academic aptitude and a strong passion for the construction industry, with the goal of driving innovation and leadership in the sector.
What does the NHT’s Construction Scholarship cover?
The NHT's Construction Scholarship offers up to $1 million in funding to individual undergraduate students pursuing degrees in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Architecture, Urban Planning, or related fields at either the University of Technology or the University of the West Indies for the 2024/25 academic year.
What are we looking for in a Scholarship Recipient?
To be eligible for the scholarship, you must:
- Be a citizen of Jamaica;
- Studying for an undergraduate degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Architecture and Urban Planning and related disciplines;
- Establish an engagement with the island through voluntary work and academic fulfilment of a B average of 2.7 GPA;
- Be willing to attend the NHT’s Awards Ceremony and any other networking event the Trust may have to discuss experiences and capture the general perception of having your education covered by the NHT;
- Be willing to maintain contact with the NHT and act as an ambassador for the Scholarship Programme.

Application forms are available for download or may be submitted using our online form. You may download the fillable application, complete it and submit via email to nhtscholarships@nht.gov.jm.
Please print or save a copy of the application before submitting. Any new information must be sent by email to nhtscholarships@nht.gov.jm. All outstanding documents must be submitted before the application deadline.
Application intake period for the Scholarship will be November 11 - 24, 2024.

During the application process, you will be required to provide a statement of academic purpose, transcripts, CSEC results, and additional required files as specified on the checklist provided. We suggest gathering these materials in advance and reviewing the file upload requirements below to make the application process as easy as possible.
Application Status
Before submitting an application, double-check it. No revised documents will be accepted after the deadline.
Once your application is submitted, please note that duplicate materials and items that are not required as part of the application will not be accepted.
Submitted applications will receive a notification of completion.
Application Accepted
Shortlisted persons will be notified and invited to an interview by November 30, 2024. Successful applicants will be notified by December 3, 2024. All NHT Construction Scholarship queries should be sent to nhtscholarship@nht.gov.jm.
The NHT will remit the scholarship payment to the respective institution(s) via electronic transfer and provide a letter outlining the amounts that should be awarded to each recipient, in accordance with the budgetary allocation. This payment will be made within thirty (30) business days of completion of interviews.
